Sub-Nanosecond Fluorescence Lifetimes Using Light Pulses Of Several Nanoseconds Width
نویسنده
چکیده
This work demonstrates the possibility of obtaining fluorescence lifetimes in the sub-nanosecond timescale using excitation light pulses with few nanoseconds width. Measured and calculated fluorescence lifetime values where confirmed using more sophisticated systems with pico-second and-femto second pulse width excitation sources. For demonstration purposes the variation in fluorescence lifetimes for -tocopherol in polar and nonpolar solvents is presented.

Long-Lived Bright Red Emitting Azaoxa-Triangulenium Fluorophores
The fluorescence lifetimes of most red emitting organic probes are under 4 nanoseconds, which is a limiting factor in studying interactions and conformational dynamics of macromolecules. In addition, the nanosecond background autofluorescence is a significant interference during fluorescence measurements in cellular environment. Therefore, red fluorophores with longer lifetimes will be immensel...
متن کاملEvaluation of Crater Width in Nanosecond Laser Ablation of Ti in Liquids and the Effect of Light Absorption by Ablated Nano-Particles
Micro size craters were created by interaction of nanosecond laser beam with titanium target in liquid media. The dimension of crater i.e. depth and width is important in some applications such as micromachining. When the interaction occurs in liquid environment, the ablated materials from the target expand into the liquid. The ablated material can affect the interaction process if the ablated ...
متن کاملWill Sub-Nanosecond Lasers Replace Nanosecond Lasers for Tattoo Removal?
With their short nanosecond pulse durations, Qswitched lasers have revolutionized the treatment of tattoos [1-3]. Nevertheless, the mechanisms for clinically observed tattoo clearance are still not well understood. Two mechanisms have been proposed: a) a thermal effect where tattoo particles are heated to sufficiently high temperatures to cause chemical changes within the particles and the surr...
متن کاملiLIF: illumination by Laser-Induced Fluorescence for single flash imaging on a nanoseconds timescale
The challenge in visualizing fast microscale fluid motion phenomena is to record high-quality images free of motion-blur. Here, we present an illumination technique based on laser-induced fluorescence which delivers high-intensity light pulses of 7 ns. The light source consists of a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser and a laser dye solution incorporated into a total internal reflection lens, resulting in...
متن کاملNumerical Feasibility Analysis of an Epidermal Glucose Sensor based on Time-Resolved Fluorescence
This paper presents numerical simulations predicting the time-resolved reflectance and autofluorescence of human skin exposed to a pulse of collimated light at 337 nm and pulse width of 1 ns. Moreover, the feasibility of using an embedded time-resolved fluorescence sensor for monitoring glucose concentration is also studied. Skin is modeled as a multilayer medium with each layer having its own ...
